Dr. Wayne Kilpatrick served as pulpit minister of
the Homewood Church of Christ in Birmingham, Alabama, from
June of 1973 until May of 2000. During that time the
congregation experienced phenomenal growth, having increased
its membership from 250 to nearly 1500 at the time he
resigned. Wayne attended Madison Academy, a Christian high
school in Huntsville, Alabama, and then entered
Freed-Hardeman College. He holds the following degrees:
B.A., B.S., M.S., M.R.R., M.Div., and the Doctor of Ministry
degree. He is an alumnus of Harding Graduate School of
Religion, Alabama Christian School of Religion, and Southern
Christina University.
Wayne and his wife, the
former Carolyn Keith, have two children and four
grandchildren. In May of 2000, Wayne left the Homewood
Church, where he had served as senior minister for 27 years,
to begin working with Onward Rejoicing Ministries.
For many years he had felt a calling to help strengthen
churches throughout the brotherhood. For four years he
conducted seminars, revivals, lectures, and served as a
church consultant. During that time he also served as
interim preacher for the Westgate Church in Dothan, AL, and
for the Central Church in Fayette, AL. He also conducted
television programs in Dothan, Jasper, and Fayette, AL. In
February of 2004, Wayne began working as the minister for
the Heritage Place Church of Christ in Irondale, AL, a
suburb of Birmingham. The church has more than tripled
since he began with them and recently entered their first
worship center. He will continue to conduct meetings and
seminars as time permits.
