Scott serves as the Vice President for Student Development at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN.  90% of a student’s time is spent outside the classroom and this is Scott’s area.  He has just finished his 12th year in this role and has been at Lipscomb a total of 17 years.

Lipscomb is a Christian University of approximately 3500 students with over 130 programs of study in 47 undergraduate majors and graduate programs in 15 disciplines including a school of pharmacy which opened this fall and is the first doctoral program in the institution’s 117 year history. 

Scott has preached for over 25 years and serves as preaching minister for the Western Hills church of Christ in Nashville.  He has maintained this part-time role since 2005.

He received his undergraduate degree in Bible from Freed-Hardeman College and his Masters degree in religion from Lipscomb University.  Scott earned his doctorate in Higher Education Leadership at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. His dissertation entitled Desired Outcomes for College Students’ Spiritual Development at Select Church of Christ Universities is the basis for his discussion of Spiritual Development at this year’s spiritual growth workshop.

Scott and his wife Kay have been married for 20 years and have 3 sons: Alec—14; Cade—11; and Cole—9.
